Working in an ecologically preserved environment is our main concern in today's world. We are conscious of the responsibility of each individual in doing his or her part in the global process of preservation in order to avoid uncontrollable deterioration in the future. Small actions are apparent here. Environmental trash cans, exclusive use of legally gathered wood, solar-heated hot water, use of SPLIT air-conditioners, which use 40% less energy, use of thermal sheeting under roof tiles to avoid excessive heat indoors, conservation of the flora and fauna in the pousada environs, collaboration on the TAMAR turtle protection program, proactive participation in local and statewide campaigns organized by public and NGO supporters of environmentally friendly policies, and contribution of environmental technical support to the hotel community are some of the actions that are a part of our daily work.

We are proud to be the first pousada in Rio Grande do Norte to ecologically treat its effluvial waste. The pousada's grey water is captured in an impermeable water tank, to which aerobic and anaerobic bacteria is added. The resulting product is filtered through a system of stones and sand, from which it is pumped through a special filter of sand and activated coal and then chlorinated. Once processed in this manner, the near-pure water is piped to water tanks for use in irrigation in our gardens, thereby avoiding any possible contamination of the water table.

•  We retrieve our water from an artesian well. Laboratory analyses by CAERN (local water authority) reveal pure water of the highest quality. In addition, the water is filtered and chlorinated, in adherence to technical standards and to ensure a pure product suitable for consumption from all pousada faucets.

•  Garbage from the pousada is separated and removed. All our trash cans are covered in accordance with sanitation requirements.

•  Our food products adhere to all local and state sanitation legislation as regards storage, refrigeration and exposure.

For these reasons we believe we are on the right path, contributing to the preservation of the environment and striving to create a better world for our children and grandchildren.
